I’ve been a fan of F1 now for a good 5 years, but have never had the chance to see a grand prix live at the circuit, until now.
Thursday, 5th July we dropped the Dog off at kennels and when drove to the storage yard collected the caravan and made our way to Silverstone, Dadford Campsite to be excat. The journey took us about 2 ½ hrs and was the furest i’ve ever towed the caravan.
Dadford Campsite is just a 10 minute walk to the circuit and for most of the year is a farm, having said that it does have Toilets and a shower block, along with water taps, and waste points around the 4 fields allocated for camping, there is plenty of room and at £80 for the 3 nights it can’t be beaten! The site is grass and a dirt track.
We arrived in the early afternoon and set up camp
By the Saturday it was alot busier!
Friday we arrived at the circuit for about 9.30 am and spent the day looking around, walking around the whole track with a view of picking our spot for the next two days. Vale seemed the best location as we only had general admission tickets.
Saturday saw alot more people then the day before, so we knew to get a decent spot for the race we’d need to be up very early Sunday. What surprised me was how quickly the days went, when watching it on the telly it seems to drag, but when you’re there boy it goes quick. The weather was very hot, 28°C with now shade, definiately topped up the tan.
The race was great with Hamilton coming from 15th after an early ‘incident’ to finish 2nd. There is plenty to do and see, the facilities at Silverstone are excellant and they have got it down to a tee.
